I qualified as a coach in 2007 and since then have coached leaders from team level through to directors - over 1 500 coaching hours both in individual and group settings.
Before that I worked for a business school, owned a beekeeping business and was a training manager for a short-term insurance company.
From my personal experience, I know what it feels like to be promoted to the role of leader - it comes with a different set of expectations and requirements altogether. And all too often, one is just assumed to be equipped to navigate the new territory, armed only with a new job description. That can be a lonely and scary place.
I work well with newly promoted leaders - whether first-time or further along. My coaching is underpinned by my knowledge of the Leadership Pipeline and Leadership Maturity frameworks - both useful frames of reference with which to understand your developing and changing role as a leader; where best to spend your time and attention and how to live out the new set of values required at each new level.
For instance, for a first-time leader, it might be hard to re-define his role relative to his new responsibilities. As an individual contributor, he / she worked individually and / or contributed to a team. As a leader, his / her task is now to empower the team to deliver results - that is an interesting shift because not everyone is equipped to help others develop to deliver business results. I help leaders to learn the lay of the new land in leadership and get clear on what is expected of them in the organization. My specialties include:
Coaching newly promoted leaders at various levels
Leadership development training
Intrapersonal and interpersonal skills development
Team performance development
Developing leaders to grow others to their best potential
